(INDIANAPOLIS, IN) - The provisional 2009 Formula One schedule does not include a race at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway.
The United States Grand Prix was held on the IMS road course for eight years, from 2000 through last year.
The speedway and formula one management could not come to an agreement to extend the contract for this year, leading to what many believe will be a brief hiatus.
Speedway President Joie Chitwood says track management is still talking to formula one officials about bringing the U.S. Grand Prix back in 2009. The F1 schedule won't be finalized until the fall.
