(RICHMOND, VA) - Practice and qualifications are scheduled for today at Richmond International Raceway for Saturday’S IndyCar Series race.
There was a rookies-only practice session on Thursday with Oriol Servia leading the way. Servia turned in a top speed of 167.295 miles per hour. Will Power was second-quick, although more than two miles an hour off Servia's pace at 165.185.
There are two practice sessions scheduled for this afternoon with qualifying scheduled for tonight. The 225-mile Suntrust Indy Challenge will be run on Saturday night.
Dario Franchitti won last year's Richmond race. The 2007 Indianapolis 500 winner has since moved on to NASCAR.
Scott Dixon, the 2008 Indy winner, enters Saturday night's race with a 48-point lead over second place Helio Castroneves.
