(INDIANAPOLIS, IN) - The new road course at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway got its first major test Tuesday as Moto GP riders and teams took to the track for day one of testing for September’s inaugural Red Bull Indianapolis GP.
Ducati test rider Niccolo Canepa was quickest with a lap of 90.539 miles per hour. Suzuki's Ben Spies was second quick at 90.495.
Seven riders were on the course, which was reconfigured following last year's United States Grand Prix formula-one race.
Testing for the Moto GP teams winds up today while there will be a day of testing for Red Bull AMA rookies cup riders on Thursday. The test sessions are open to the public.
