(SOUTH BEND) - Notre Dame is expected to name Indianapolis attorney Jack Swarbrick today as their new athletic director.
Swarbrick, an attorney at Baker and Daniels, has plenty of athletics experience and has been an AD candidate in the past.
The 1976 Notre Dame graduate most recently served as a key member of the committee that helped Indianapolis land the 2012 Super Bowl at Lucas Oil Stadium. In addition, he was chairman of the Indianapolis Sports Corporation from 1992 to 2001, during which time he was instrumental in luring the NCAA to relocate their national headquarters from Kansas City.
Swarbrick has never been an athletic director, but has been considered at Stanford, Indiana University, as commissioner of the Big 12 conference, and was a finalist to become president of the NCAA, a job that eventually went to Myles Brand.
The 54-year-old Swarbrick replaces Kevin White, who left to become the athletic director at Duke University in June.
