(INDIANAPOLIS, IN) - The Indy Racing League released the 2009 IndyCar Series schedule on Wednesday as well as confirming that the series will race in Australia this October.
The 2009 schedule will begin on the streets of St. Petersburg on April 5th with the traditional season-opener at Homestead-Miami Speedway being moved to the end of the schedule on October 11th.
Nashville is off the schedule and has been replaced with a street race in Toronto on July 12th. Kansas will now serve as the lead-in to the Indianapolis 500 with the race in Motegi, Japan being moved to mid-September.
Former Champ Car World Series races at Long Beach and Edmonton are on the IndyCar Series schedule for next season.
This year's race at Surfer's Paridise Australia will be held on October 26th, but Australia is not on the 2009 schedule released Wednesday.
