(INDIANAPOLIS, IN) - The NBA released the 2008-2009 schedule on Wednesday and the Indiana Pacers will have their hands full at the start.
The Pacers open the season at the Palace of Auburn Hills on Wednesday, October 29th as they take on the Detroit Pistons. The home opener is Saturday, November 1st against the defending NBA champion Boston Celtics. They follow that up with a home game against Phoenix and a road game with Lebron James and the Cleveland Cavaliers. All four of those teams made the playoffs last season.
The regular season wraps up on Wednesday, April 15th against the Milwaukee Bucks.
The schedule is highlighted by several Indianapolis natives returning home to play for the first time as professionals. Greg Oden, the number-one overall pick in the 2007 NBA Draft, comes home for the first time when the Portland Trail Blazers visit on March 18th. Oden missed all of last year following knee surgery.
Orlando rookie Courtney Lee will be in with the Magic on November 21st and February 6th.
Eric Gordon makes his only appearance at Conseco Fieldhouse when the Los Angeles Clippers are in on December 19th.
Former IUPUI star George Hill and the San Antonio Spurs make their only Indianapolis appearance on April 3rd.
