Notre Dame Wins, Weis Injured

(SOUTH BEND) - The Notre Dame Fighting Irish topped the Michigan Wolverines 35-17.

The Irish were able to take advantage of six Wolverine turnovers in the game including two fumbles that were returned for touchdowns in the opening quarter.

Jimmy Clausen completed 10 of 21 pass attempts for 147 yards and two touchdowns.

Running back Robert Hughes carried the ball 19 times for the Irish for 79 yards and two scores.

With the win, the Irish improve to 2-and-0 and avenge consecutive blowout losses to the Wolverines.

Notre Dame Head Coach Charlie Weis was injured in a sideline hit during the game, blowing out his knee after colliding with 6-5 264 pound defensive end John Ryan.

It was the Irish's 300th win at Notre Dame Stadium.
