O'Brien Reduces Pacers Practices To One A Day

Last updated on Monday, October 6, 2008

(INDIANAPOLIS, IN) - The Indiana Pacers will practice once today as they prepare for Wednesday’s preseason opener with the New Orleans Hornets at the Pepsi Coliseum in Indianapolis.

Head Coach Jim O'Brien told the team on Saturday that he was reducing the workload to one practice per day for the remainder of camp. O'Brien says he has been pleased with the progress he has seen and with the conditioning the team has displayed during the first week.

O'Brien may also be easing up due to injuries that are mounting. Jeff Foster, Mike Dunleavy, Travis Diener, Troy Murphy and Shawne Williams missed at least one practice over the weekend due to various dings.

Tinsley Dealt To Denver?

We could know more today about a rumored deal that would send embattled Pacers point guard Jamaal Tinsley to the Denver Nuggets in exchange for point guard Chucky Atkins and big man Steven Hunter. The New York Post reported Friday morning that the deal was done, contingent on Tinsley passing a physical in Denver.

Officials from both the Pacers and the nuggets denied that there was a deal in place, but Denver has been looking for a point guard in order to move Allen Iverson to his natural position of shooting guard. Tinsley has three years remaining on his contract and Pacers President Larry Bird has said they would trade him.

Bird said buying out the remaining $21-million dollars on Tinsley's contract is not an option.
