(AUBURN HILLS, MI) - Tayshaun Prince led a balanced Detroit attack as the Pistons beat the Indiana Pacers 100-94 in the season opener for both teams.
Richard Hamilton finished with 15 points and Chauncey Billups added 13 to offset a big night from Indiana's Danny Granger. Granger, who shot under 30-percent from the field during the preseason, led all scorers with 33 points on 10-16 shooting.
Troy Murphy added 13 points and 15 rebounds for the Pacers who had a good shooting night, hitting 50-percent from the field. The hot shooting could not offset 22 turnovers and a 15-5 advantage for Detroit on the offensive glass.
The Pacers are off until Saturday night when they host the defending NBA Champion Boston Celtics in the home opener at Conseco Fieldhouse.
