(INDIANAPOLIS, IN) - The Indiana Pacers opened the preseason with a 105-71 loss to the New Orleans Hornets at the Pepsi Coliseum in Indianapolis.
The Hornets never trailed and blew the game open in the third quarter, outscoring the Pacers 26 to six as Indiana hit just three of their 21 attempts from the field during the period.
Chris Paul led New Orleans with 17 points with former Pacer Peja Stojakovic adding 14.
It was a good night for a pair of the Pacers new players as TJ Ford led Indiana with 15 points and Jarrett Jack finished with eleven.
Rookies Roy Hibbert and Brandon Rush struggled in their NBA debuts. Hibbert scored six points in 14 minutes before being tagged with a flagrant foul for elbowing New Orleans center Melvin Ely in the mouth and being ejected. Rush played 26 minutes but hit just two of his nine shots from the field and finished with five points.
The pacers host the Chicago Bulls on Friday night at the Allen County War Memorial Coliseum in Fort Wayne.
