(WEST LAFAYETTE, IN) - Purdue Coach Joe Tiller says senior quarterback Curtis Painter will be under center when the Boilermakers face number-eleven Ohio State Saturday in Columbus.
Painter was lifted from the Boilers' 20-6 loss at home to Penn State last weekend and replaced by junior Joey Elliott. Painter completed 13-of-22 passes for 112 yards and an interception before being benched early in the fourth quarter.
Elliott directed Purdue's lone touchdown drive, completing three of five passes for 46 yards.
Tiller says he is not concerned about Painter's mindset following the benching, saying he warns his quarterbacks that anybody can be replaced at anytime and that if they get another chance they should play their best.
Tiller added that Elliott improved his stock, not only with his performance but with his awareness of what is going on the field.
