(BLOOMINGTON) - Indiana University has paid nearly a half-million dollars in legal fees in defending allegations of NCAA rules violations by former men’s basketball coach Kelvin Sampson and his staff.
The figure is expected to go higher as the $497,000 tab only goes through the month of July.
The legal bills were obtained through public records requests by the Bloomington Herald Times and the Indianapolis Star.
The NCAA is expected to release its findings shortly and determine whether IU should receive penalties in addition to those the university has already imposed on itself.
