(SAN DIEGO, CA) - Adam Vinatieri kicked a 51-yard field goal as time expired to give the Indianapolis Colts a 23-20 win over the San Diego Chargers on Sunday Night Football.
Vinatieri's game-winner thwarted a San Diego comeback that saw the Chargers fall behind by ten points early in the fourth quarter before tying the game on a Nate Keading field goal with 1:30 remaining.
Peyton Manning threw for 255 yards, two touchdowns and an interception with Anthony Gonzalez catching six passes for 95 yards and a score.
Phillip Rivers threw for 288 yards and two touchdowns as the Chargers fall to 4-and-7.
The Colts improve to 7-and-4 heading to their Sunday afternoon game with the 4-and-7 Cleveland Browns.
The Colts' win at San Diego last night kept the horseshoes in front of the AFC wild card race. Indianapolis maintains the number-five playoff seed as they share a 7-and-4 record with both New England and Baltimore, but have defeated the Patriots and the Ravens in head-to-head meetings - the first tiebreaker in the NFL playoff formula.
With the victory, the Colts are three games behind first-place Tennessee in the AFC South. The Titans suffered their first loss of the season Sunday, falling at home to the New York Jets 34-13.
