(SAN DIEGO, CA) - The Star Press of Muncie reports that Ball State football coach Brady Hoke is one of three finalists for the vacant head coach’s job at San Diego State.
Hoke travelled to San Diego on Thursday for a formal interview. He follows UCLA defensive coordinator Dewayne Walker, who interviewed on Tuesday, and former Alabama and Texas A&M coach Dennis Franchione, who interviewed on Wednesday.
The paper cites a source familiar with the San Diego State search as saying that Aztecs Athletic Director Jeff Schemmel would like to select a coach this weekend and make an announcement by Monday.
Chuck long was fired as head coach of San Diego State on November 23rd after going 9-and-27 over three seasons with the Aztecs.
Hoke has led Ball State to a 12-and-1 record this season as the Cardinals will face Tulsa in the GMAC Bowl on January 6th.
