(MUNCIE, IN) - Ball State football coach Brady Hoke says he has talked with Auburn Athletic Director Jay Jacobs about the Tigers’ vacant head coaching position.
Hoke said during a news conference in Mobile, Alabama, that he talked to Jacobs earlier this week in New York about the job.
The Cardinals face Tulsa in the GMAC Bowl next month in Mobile.
Hoke is one of several coaches who have talked to Jacobs about the vacancy created when Tommy Tuberville resigned under pressure last week.
Among the others who have had discussions regarding the Auburn job are Buffalo coach Turner Gill and Tulsa coach Todd Graham. Gill's Bulls halted Ball State's perfect season with a 42-24 win over the Cardinals in last Friday night's MAC championship game. Graham's Golden Hurricane are Ball State's next opponent in the GMAC Bowl.
Others who reportedly have been contacted by Jacobs are Louisiana Tech coach Derek Dooley, Georgia assistant Rodney Garner and Miami offensive coordinator Patrick Nix.
