(MOBILE, AL) - The Ball State Cardinals remain winless in bowl games with their 45-13 loss to Tulsa at the GMAC Bowl in Mobile, Alabama.
Tarrion Adams rushed for 209 yards with three touchdowns while David Johnson threw three touchdown passes for the Golden Hurricane, who set a school record with their eleventh win of the season.
The Cardinals struggled with the rainy conditions. Nate Davis completed just nine of 29 passes for 143 yards with an interception. Davis lost two fumbles on Ball State's first two possessions of the game, but did score the Cardinals' lone touchdown with a 17-yard run in the first quarter.
The Davis touchdown tied the game at seven with Tulsa taking the lead for good on a 31-yard Jarod Tracy field goal with 2:04 left in the opening period.
In the second quarter, Adams scored two touchdowns while Ball State kicker Ian McGarvey countered with a pair of field goals as the Golden Hurricane led 24-13 at halftime.
The Cardinals would not score in the second half as a driving rainstorm soaked the field turf right before the start of the third quarter.
Tulsa scored one touchdown in the third period and two more in the fourth to complete the rout and claim their second-straight GMAC Bowl victory.
Ball State lost its final two games to finish the season with a 12-and-2 record.
