(MUNCIE, IN) - Ball State quarterback Nate Davis says he will forgo his final season of college eligibility and enter April’s NFL draft.
Davis was named the Mid-American Conference's offensive player of the year this season, throwing for 3,591 yards and 26 touchdowns against just eight interceptions in 2008. He led the Cardinals to a 12-and-0 start and berths in the MAC championship game and the GMAC Bowl.
The season ended on a sour note with losses in both the championship game and the bowl game in Mobile, Alabama.
Davis says he will return to Ball State at some point to earn his degree, fulfilling a promise he has made to his mother and to himself.
