(INDIANAPOLIS, IN) - Penske Racing will hold a news conference today to announce the team’s 2009 IndyCar Series driver lineup.
The big question involves two-time Indianapolis 500 champion Helio Castroneves, who faces trial on federal tax evasion charges in Florida this March.
Castroneves, his sister and his attorney were indicted last October and the trial will be held in US district court in Miami on March 2nd, slightly more than one month ahead of the IndyCar Series opener at St. Petersburg, Florida on April 5th.
The Indianapolis Star reports that the team will add Australian Will Power as a replacement for Castroneves should the pending court case keep the popular Brazilian out of car number three for any period of time.
Power, the 2006 rookie of the year in the Champ Car World Series, drove for KV Racing Technology last season. He won the final Champ Car race last season at Long Beach, California. Power will serve as the team's test driver and fill in for Castroneves where needed.
Ryan Briscoe returns in car number six.
