Rahal Letterman Racing Could Miss 2009 IndyCar Series

Last updated on Friday, January 30, 2009

(UNDATED) - Rahal Letterman Racing will not participate in the 2009 IndyCar Series unless the team can find sponsorship.

The team ran one car last season with American Ryan Hunter-Reay as the driver. Hunter-Reay won last season's race at Watkins Glen.

Rahal Letterman Racing is owned by 1986 Indianapolis 500 winner Bobby Rahal and talk show host David Letterman, an Indianapolis native. The team won the Indy 500 in 2004 with Buddy Rice behind the wheel and brought Danica Patrick to the IndyCar Series in 2005.

The team will continue to seek sponsorship for an IndyCar Series effort but will concentrate on its sports car program with BMW in the American Le Mans Series.
