(PORTLAND, OR) - The Purdue Boilermakers advanced to the second round of the NCAA tournament with a 61-56 win over Northern Iowa.
The Boilers used a 14-2 run in the first half to build a 32-20 lead at intermission.
They held off a late charge by the Panthers to move on to the second round for the third consecutive year.
E'Twaun Moore led the 26-and-9 Boilermakers with 17 points with JaJuan Johnson finishing with 14 points and Robbie Hummel adding nine points and ten rebounds.
Jordan Englseder led UNI with 13 points with Kwadzo Ahelegbe adding eleven points and Ali Farokhmanesh adding ten as the Panthers end their season at 23-and-11.
Purdue will face number-four seed Washington on Saturday afternoon in round two at Portland. The Huskies won their opener over Mississippi State 71-58.
