(SOUTH BEND, IN) - Tory Jackson drove coast-to-coast and hit the game-winning layup with two-point-two seconds remaining to give the Fighting Irish of Notre Dame a 70-68 victory over New Mexico in the second round of the NIT.
Jackson's basket came after Elkhart native Dairese Gary had tied the game at 68 with a pair of free throws for the Lobos.
Luke Harangody led Notre Dame with 26 points and eleven rebounds with Jackson finishing with 16 points and Kyle McAlarney adding eleven points as the Irish advance to the quarterfinals.
Gary and Daniel Faris tied for team-high honors for New Mexico with 15 points apiece as the Lobos end their season at 22-and-12.
Notre Dame improves to 20-and-14 and will face the winner of Monday night's game between Creighton and Kentucky in the quarterfinals on Wednesday of next week.
