(INDIANAPOLIS) - One of the country’s largest volleyball tournaments comes to Indianapolis this weekend, bringing with it a fan base of 20,000 people.
The 2009 Mizuno mid-east qualifier is expected to have a $15-million dollar economic impact on the city as visitors fill 12,000 hotel rooms and spend money on dining and entertainment.
Event Spokesman Ryan Bozwell says girls between the ages of 16 and 18 will compete in the event. He says the qualifier attracts both college recruiters and girls who want to play after high school.
Bozwell says Indianapolis was picked to host the tournament because of its central location and entertainment opportunities.
