(CINCINNATI, OH) - Edinson Volquez and Francisco Cordero combined on a one-hitter as the Cincinnati Reds finally beat Houston at home, shutting out the Astros 3-0.
The only hit Volquez allowed was a double by Miguel Tejada in the first inning. At one point, he retired 17 Astros in a row in improving to 3-2 on the season.
Rookie Adam Rosales, filling in for the injured Edwin Encarnacion at third base, drove in two runs for Cincinnati with Laynce Nix adding an RBI single.
The win snapped Houston's 11-game winning streak at Great American Ball Park, a streak that went back to September of 2007.
