(MIAMI, FL) - The jury in the tax evasion trial of two-time Indianapolis 500 winner Helio Castroneves begins a fifth day of deliberations today at US District Court in Miami.
The jurors have issued three notes to the judge with questions about some complex areas of tax law. Castroneves, his sister and business manager Kati and attorney Alan Miller stand accused of tax evasion and conspiracy charges.
Prosecutors accuse them of setting up an offshore dummy corporation to divert almost $5.5 million of Castroneves' earnings from the reach of the US Internal Revenue Service.
