(NEW YORK, NY) - The Cleveland Indians wasted a strong performance from Carl Pavano as they lost to the New York Yankees 7-3.
A solo home run by Shin-Soo Choo in the second and a two-run shot by Ryan Garko in the fourth put the Indians up 3-0.
Mark Teixeira put the Yankees on the board with an RBI single in the fourth before New York got to the Cleveland bullpen for three runs in the seventh.
Jorge Posada capped the seventh with a controversial pinch-hit, two-run homer. It appeared that a fan may have touched the ball before it went over the fence, but a replay was inconclusive.
Pavano, who has struggled the past three seasons while with the Yankees, allowed a run on four hits over six innings and did not figure in the decision.
