(CLEVELAND, OH) - Grady Sizemore and Victor Martinez hit home runs as the Cleveland Indians held off a late charge by Kansas City to defeat the Royals 8-7.
Sizemore hit a three-run shot in the fourth off Kansas City starter Sidney Ponson as the Indians built a 6-1 lead.
Aaron Laffey allowed a run on seven hits over seven innings to pick up his first win of the season, but the royals got to the Cleveland bullpen for six runs over the final two frames.
Martinez' two-run homer off Juan Cruz in the eighth inning proved to be the difference.
