(MIAMI, FL) - Closing arguments in the tax evasion trial of race car driver Helio Castroneves are scheduled for Thursday in Miami.
Castroneves, his sister Kati and Michigan attorney Allen Miller are on trial for conspiracy and tax evasion involving about $5.5 million worth of Castroneves' income between 1999 and 2004.
The Internal Revenue Service says the two-time Indianapolis 500 winner owes more than $2.3 million in taxes during that period.
The trial kept Castroneves out of last Sunday's IndyCar Series opener at St. Petersburg.
