(PHOENIX, AZ) - Eric Byrnes’ RBI single with two out in the bottom of the tenth inning gave the Arizona Diamondbacks a 7-6 victory over the St. Louis Cardinals.
The Redbirds jumped out to the early lead, scoring three runs in the fourth inning capped by a two-run double from Yadier Molina. Arizona got close when Mark Reynolds launched a two-run home run in the fifth.
Conor Jackson's three-run shot in the eighth gave the D-Backs a 6-4 lead, but St. Louis responded RBI singles from Colby Rasmus and Albert Pujols in the ninth to tie the game and force extra innings.
Byrnes' single scored Justin Upton from third base, snapping Arizona's three-game losing streak while halting the Cardinals' five-game winning streak.
