(PHOENIX, AZ) - Dan Haren fired a complete-game three-hitter as the Arizona Diamondbacks won the opener of their series with the Chicago Cubs 7-2.
Haren allowed a solo homer to Alfonso Soriano leading off the ballgame and a solo shot to Mike Fontenot in the eighth and not much else in between, striking out ten Cubs while walking none.
He also contributed with the bat, driving home the go-ahead run with a two-run double in the fourth as he improves his record to 2-3. Chris Young also had a two-run double for the D-Backs.
Ted Lilly allowed five earned runs over five innings to take the loss, falling to 2-2.
