(LOUISVILLE, KY) - The Indianapolis Indians earned a split of their two-game series in Louisville with an 8-6 win over the Bats on Tuesday afternoon.
Garrett Jones hit a two-run home run and drove in four to pace the Indianapolis offense with Jeff Salazar adding a solo shot. Virgil Vasquez allowed three runs on three hits over six innings to even his record at 1-1.
Jonny Gomes touched Vasquez for a three-run homer, his third of the season, as the Bats see their three-game winning streak halted. The Tribe wound up going 5-4 on what became a nine-game road trip following a rainout last week in Louisville.
They will take today off before opening an eight-game homestand with a game against Rochester Thursday night at Victory Field.
