(JOLIET, IL) - The oldest former Indianapolis 500 driver has died. Danny Kladis was 92.
He died Sunday in Joliet, Illinois. Kladis made his only Indy start in 1946, driving for the Granatelli Brothers and finishing 21st.
He drove in relief of Spider Webb in the 1954 race and failed in his final attempt to make the field in 1957.
Kladis began racing midgets in 1935 and was elected to the National Midget Racing Hall of Fame in 2007.
