(ST. LOUIS, MO) - Joel Pineiro pitched into the ninth inning, improving to 3-0 as the St. Louis Cardinals beat the New York Mets 5-2.
Pineiro allowed two runs on six hits to pick up the win. Albert Pujols went 2-for-3 with two runs batted in with Joe Thurston adding an RBI triple.
John Maine allowed all five St. Louis runs in five and two-thirds innings of work to take the loss, falling to 0-2 on the season.
