(CINCINNATI, OH) - Johan Santana and the New York Mets’ bullpen outdueled Aaron Harang and the Cincinnati Reds’ bullpen as the Mets got past the Reds 2-1 on opening day at Great Amercian Ball Park.
Daniel Murphy hit a solo home run in the fifth inning and had an RBI groundout in the sixth to account for New York's offense.
Santana allowed a run on three-hits over five and two-thirds innings to pick up his first win of the season while the Mets' bullpen allowed no hits over three and-a-third innings. Brandon Phillips hit a sacrifice fly in the sixth to account for Cincinnati's lone run.
Harang gave up a run on seven hits over five innings to take the loss.
