(PHOENIX, AZ) - Brian Barden hit a solo homer in the top of the eighth to give the St. Louis Cardinals a 2-1 win over the Arizona Diamondbacks in Phoenix.
Albert Pujols put the Redbirds ahead in the fourth when he tagged a Doug Davis pitch over the left field wall.
The D-Backs tied the game in their half of the fourth on a Chad Tracy RBI double off Cardinals starter Todd Wellemeyer.
Davis was still on the mound in the eighth and gave up Barden's game-winner. Wellemeyer allowed a run on seven hits over seven innings to pick up the win, evening his record at 1-1.
Davis allowed two runs on seven hits in eight innings of work and falls to 0-2.
