(MILWAUKEE, WI) - The Chicago Cubs took advantage of Milwaukee starter Jeff Suppan’s wildness in the fourth inning to get past the Milwaukee Brewers 8-5.
After giving up a home run to Alfonso Soriano on the first pitch of the ball game, Suppan cruised until the fourth when he loaded the bases by hitting Milton Bradley with a pitch, walking Mike Fontenot and allowing a single to Ryan Theriot. Suppan then walked Koye Hill to force in a run.
After retiring pitcher Ryan Dempster, Soriano and Kosuke Fukudome drew walks forcing in two more runs. Jorge Julio relieved Suppan and walked Derrek Lee to force in the fourth run of the inning. Chicago took two of three from the Brewers in the series.
The Cubs play their home opener this afternoon when they welcome the Colorado Rockies to the Friendly Confines.
