(HOUSTON, TX) - Alfonso Soriano put the second pitch of the game into the seats as the Chicago Cubs opened the season with a 4-2 victory over the Astros in Houston.
Aramis Ramirez hit a solo shot of his own off Houston starter Roy Oswalt in the second inning to give Carlos Zambrano a cushion.
Zambrano allowed a run on five hits in six innings of work to pick up the win. Ryan Theriot added a sacrifice fly in the fourth for the Cubs with Micah Hoffpauir adding a pinch-hit RBI single in the ninth.
Oswalt took the loss, giving up three runs on seven hits over seven innings.
