(CHICAGO) - The Chicago Cubs outlasted the San Diego Padres, winning 6-4 in a game shortened to seven and-a-half innings by rain.
Alfonso Soriano led off the Cubs' portion of the first with a home run.
Geovany Soto hit a two-run homer and drove in three with Ryan Theriot hitting a pair of solo shots.
Adrian Gonzalez went deep twice for San Diego, driving in three runs as the Padres lose their fifth in a row.
The Cubs go for the sweep this afternoon at Wrigley Field.
