(CINCINNATI) - Ryan Howard homered as the Philadelphia Phillies handed Cincinnati’s Johnny Cueto a rare loss in beating the Reds 4-3.
Howard's solo shot in the second gave the Phillies the early lead before Jay Bruce tied the game with his twelfth home run of the season in the fourth.
Philadelphia took the lead for good in the fifth, scoring three times on a Jimmy Rollins RBI single, a Chase Utley run-scoring double and a sacrifice fly from Raul Ibanez.
The Reds would score twice in the sixth and had two on in the ninth before Brad Lidge closed the door for his eighth save of the season.
Cole Hamels picked up the win to improve to 2-2 with Cueto taking the loss to fall to 4-2.
