(WEST LAFAYETTE) - Purdue Men’s Basketball Coach Matt Painter has been selected to be an assistant coach on USA basketball’s 2009 under-19 world championships team.
Painter joins Southern Illinois' Chris Lowery as one of two assistants on the team under head coach Jamie Dixon of Pittsburgh.
The coaching selections were made by the USA basketball men's junior national team committee, which is chaired by Syracuse Head Coach Jim Boeheim.
Sixteen countries are competing in the 2009 FIBA World Championships, which take place from July 2nd through the 12th in Auckland, New Zealand.
