(ST. LOUIS) - Joel Pineiro threw a three-hitter as the St. Louis cardinals snapped a three-game skid with a 3-0 shutout of the Chicago Cubs.
Pineiro struck out five and walked none, needing just 92 pitches to go the route and improve to 5-3.
Yadier Molina put the Redbirds up for good with an RBI single in the first and Colby Rasmus added insurance with a two-run home run in the fifth.
Ted Lilly allowed all three St. Louis runs on four hits in seven innings of work to take the loss, falling to 5-3.
