(CHICAGO, IL) - The Chicago Cubs will be without starting pitcher Carlos Zambrano for the next six games.
Zambrano was suspended by Major League Baseball for his tirade after being ejected in Wednesday's win by the Cubs over the Pittsburgh Pirates.
Zambrano was ejected after appearing to bump umpire Mark Carlson after Carlson called Pittsburgh's Nyjer Morgan safe on a close play at home plate.
After his ejection, Zambrano pointed in Carlson's face and made a sign like he was ejecting the umpire.
Zambrano then proceeded to throw a baseball into left field, slammed his glove against the dugout fence and smashed a Gatorade dispenser in the Cubs dugout with a bat.
Zambrano's agent says the ruling will not be appealed and Zambrano will be eligible to pitch Thursday at Atlanta.
