(DETROIT, MI) - Daiske Matsuzaka gave up one run in five innings of work and earned his first win of the year, as the visiting Red Sox beat Detroit 5-1 Tuesday night.
J.D. Drew hit a solo home ruin for Boston, while designated hitter David Ortiz was just 1 for 5.
Ortiz's struggle has been one of the major storylines of the young season.
Once one of the most feared hitters in the majors, "Big Papi" entered the game carrying a .185 batting average.
The game did mark the return to the booth of Tigers' radio announcer Dan Dickerson.
He had missed six games after suffering an injury while jogging.
