(UNDATED) - NASCAR tire maker Goodyear says it’s making progress on a tire problem that marred the 2008 Allstate 400 at the Brickyard.
Goodyear said Thursday that they are pleased with the results of a two-day test at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway earlier this week.
Nine teams participated in the test, in which Goodyear says numerous cars were able to last over 30 laps on a set of tires.
The 2008 race saw 11 caution periods and 52 of the 160 laps under yellow, due largely to tire problems that forced NASCAR to throw competition yellow flags every 10 to 12 laps.
Goodyear plans a final 12-team test June 15 and 16 in Indianapolis before the July 26 race.
