(NEW YORK, NY) - Daniel Murphy homered and Alex Cora drove in a pair of runs as the New York Mets beat the St. Louis Cardinals 6-4 in the opener of their three-game series at Citi Field.
Tim Redding pitched into the eighth inning to pick up his first win as a met and snap the Redbirds' three-game winning streak.
Ryan Ludwick hit a two-run homer and Brendan Ryan added a solo shot for the Cardinals, who suffered just their second loss in their last seven games.
Todd Wellemeyer took the loss for St. Louis to drop to 6 and 7.
