(SOUTH BEND, IN) - University of Notre Dame tight end Joseph Fauria will sit out the upcoming college football season for personal reasons.
Head coach Charlie Weis says the sophomore is not enrolled in summer school and will not be enrolled this fall.
The 245-pounder played sparingly as a freshman last season, recording zero catches in three games as a backup.
Weis had hoped to redshirt Fauria last season, but used him after Mike Ragone suffered a season-ending knee injury and Will Yeatman was suspended for the season.
Yeatman has since transferred to Maryland.
Fauria was not expected to start for the Fighting Irish this season.
