(ST. LOUIS, MO) - The Detroit Tigers scored four runs in the top of the first en route to a 6-3 win over the St. Louis Cardinals.
An error by Cardinals third baseman Joe Thurston opened the floodgates as three of the Detroit runs in the first were unearned.
Placido Polanco and Marcus Thames gave the tigers some insurance in the eighth inning with solo homers of redbirds reliever Jason Motte.
Rick Porcello picked up the win for Detroit to improve to 8 and 4 as the Tigers erase a four-game losing streak.
Joel Pineiro was saddled with loss and falls to 5 and 8.
