(ST. LOUIS) - Adam Wainwright got the better of Justin Verlander as the St. Louis Cardinals blew out the Detroit Tigers 11-2.
Wainwright pitched seven innings allowing a run on six hits to improve to 7 and 4.
Brendon Ryan had a three-run double, Yadier Molina added a two-run single and Albert Pujols and Chris Duncan added solo homers as the Redbirds raked Detroit pitching for 14 hits.
Verlander, who had won his last seven decisions, allowed five runs on eight hits over four innings to fall to 7 and 3.
