(PITTSBURGH, PA) - Derrek Lee and Kosuke Fukudome homered and Randy Wells won his third consecutive decision in the Chicago Cubs’ 4-1 victory over the Pittsburgh Pirates.
Lee gave the Cubs the early lead when he hit a two-run homer off Pittsburgh starter Virgil Vasquez in the first.
Brandon Moss cut the lead to one with his RBI single in the bottom of the first, but Fukudome got the run back with a solo shot off Vasquez in the sixth.
Geovany Soto gave Chicago an insurance run in the eighth with an RBI single.
Wells allowed a run on six hits over seven innings to even his record at 3 and 3.
Vasquez took the loss to fall to 1 and 1.
