(INDIANAPOLIS, IN) - Indianapolis Motor Speedway president and chief operating officer Joie Chitwood announced Monday that he is stepping down from his posts following this weekend’s Allstate 400 at the Brickyard.
His last day with the Speedway will be August 6.
Chitwood joined IMS as senior vice president of business affairs in 2002 and was elevated to his current positions in December of 2004.
He is leaving to become vice president of business operations for the International Speedway Corporation in Daytona Beach, Florida.
