(INDIANAPOLIS, IN) - 14-time gold medalist Michael Phelps set a new world record in the 100-Meter Butterfly last night at the US National Championships.
Phelps finished the final two laps in 50.22 seconds.
The previous record holder was Ian Crocker back in 2005 when he did it in 50.40 seconds.
The victory at the Indiana University Natatorium will give Phelps a spot at the world championships in Rome later this month.
